Security Precautions for Gas Pipes in Jiaxing

Gas explosion which occurred in Kaohsiung, Taiwan at nigh of July 31 has alerted gas safety in Jiaxing. Jiaxing Gas Pipe Network Construction & Management Co., LTD introduces that they has already taken security precautions to ensure safety of gas pipes.
It is known that there are two gas transmission pipes in Jiaxing currently, Deqing-Jiaxing gas transmission pipe and Jiaxing administrative region gas transmission pipe. The total length of two gas transmission pipes is 92 kilometers and 62 kilometers respectively. Gan Aiting, the assistant manager of Security Department of Gas Pipe Network Construction & Management Co., LTD introduces that the main threatens to the security of gas pipes are illegal constructions and illegal projects. For that, corporation has already sent 5 pipe patrol cars and 10 pipe inspectors to check the gas transmission pipes whose total length is 150 kilometers every day. Once illegal constructions or illegal projects are discovered, inspectors reports to corporation at the first time. Then corporation cooperates with relevant departments to dispose. He says, “In the early of this year, we discovered 13 illegal constructions. So far, 7 constructions have been torn down successfully and other 6 constructions are still being coordinated.”
“Besides security check every day, all of gas sites have been equipped with gas leakage detectors. Once gas leaks out, detectors will raise the alarm at the first time.” Gan Aiting claims. This year, data acquisition and monitoring control system has been enabled for remote control of all of gas pipes in Jixing. Once pressure, flow rate, temperature and other parameters inside pipes change a lot, the system will alarm immediately. What is more, a batch of gas-liquid linkage valves has also been enabled to ensure the security of gas pipes further. When the pressure inside gas pipes is higher than upper limit or inferior to lower limit, ball valves will turn off automatically. “If gas pipes explode or fracture, valves will also turn off automatically when detecting that pressure drop exceeds stated rate of pressure drop.” Gan Aiting says.
